Direct Commands

  • Do good works that others would be able to see (but, of course, not for the purpose of others seeing) — Matthew 5:16, 6:1-4
  • Be gracious to those who would harm you, take from you, force you to do something, or ask you to borrow something; love your enemies and pray for your persecuters — Matthew 5:38-45
  • Eat with tax collectors and sinners — Matthew 9:11-13
  • In spreading the word, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves — Matthew 10:16
  • Repent of sins/be baptized in name of Christ — Acts 2:38
  • Help the weak and remember Jesus said it's more blessed to give than to receive (indiv. or church??) — Acts 20:35

  • Keep away from a brother walking in idleness/rebellion (seems to describe someone who is not about their own work but everyone else's business, not following the tradition received from [Paul, Silvanus, Timothy]) — 2 Thessalonians 3:6
  • Don't keep company with anyone who doesn't obey their words in 2 Thessalonians, but admonish him as a brother, not regarding him as an enemy — 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15
  • Don't consider our freedom in Christ as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another — Galatians 5:13
  • Walk in the spirit, not in the flesh, which means no sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality/lustfulness/lewdness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife/contentions, jealousy/emulations, angry outbursts, rivalries/quarrels, division/dissensions/heresies, envy, murder, drunkenness, revellings/orgies, and such like. — Galatians 5:19-21
  • However, it means love, joy, peace, patience, kindness/gentleness, goodness, faith/faithfulness, meekness, self-control/temperance — Galatians 5:22-23
  • Do not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another — Galatians 5:26
  • If someone is caught/overtaken in a sin, restore/instruct him in a spirit of gentleness — Galatians 6:1
  • Bear one another's burdens (which first requires discovering them), fulfilling Christ's law, and don't think of ourselves too great or important to bear others' burdens; we should think soberly about our own works, testing them in our minds whether they are worthy, and if they actually are, then we can rejoice in that as opposed to other people's estimation of us — Galatians 6:2-3
  • Bear our own burden of responsibility before God — Galatians 6:5
  • The student should share good things with his teacher — Galatians 6:6

  • Continue in the apostle's teaching (a prime fruit of the Spirit) and fellowship (“having all things in common” and breaking similar communion with the world), breaking of bread (an expression of fellowship) and prayers (constant dependence on God with unwavering faith/belief) — Acts 2:42
  • Generosity with one's possessions — Acts 2:45
  • Eating meals together — Acts 2:46
  • Donating to remote churches — Acts 11:29-30
  • Imitate [Paul, Silvanus, Timothy] as well as the Lord — 1 Thessalonians 1:6-7 ** branch this off into traits of paul and timothy and jesus
  • Don't eat your host's food without paying for it if you're their guest, and work so as to not be a burden to your host — 2 Thessalonians 3:7-8
  • Remember the poor — Galatians 2:10
